It's all about the quality of life. Money doesn't mean a lot if you are too tired/sore/cranky to enjoy spending it. I'd recommend you look around for a different job; look for something that has room for upward growth so your lack of a degree won't hold you back!

Lay out a plan for your future and head in that direction. You will not be able to do a physically demanding job all of your life so you will need to get in a field that will allow you to move into management or supervisor or that has retirement benefits so you have something to work for. Sometimes you have to take 2 steps back to make one step in the right direction for a better future. When we hire apprentices in the construction field we start them off at low wages (they really cost us more than we make from their labors, but it is our investment in a well trained employee for years to come). We have been getting comments from some of the teenagers like "McDonald's pays $12 an hour". That may be true once you make it past training, and then where will you be in 5 years?
You do not need a college degree for every job, but you do need to head in a direction with promise of future gain. And taking classes along the way would help. So don't just quit for an easier happy job, but for one that has potential - then a sacrifice in starting income would be worth it. Good luck.

I've been in the same position as you. and its not a good position to be in. First you do have to think about your family, otherwise you could just say f* it and leave, but you can't, you need to support them.
I would start looking for a job, this in itself will empower you and make you feel better, as you are looking for a new and better life for yourself.
Can you get a similar job for a different company? even though you don't have college credits, you still have on the job knowledge for whatever profession you are doing and that means something.
Next, I would try to distance yourself from your boss. If you see him walking towards you, walk away from him, or get to a group of guys. anything so you can limit the amount of Bullsh*t your boss gives you. Make it a game and it will help your days go by faster. Start counting the # of times you saw your boss and try to break your record on a daily basis!
Good Luck

Well I think that you should just stay on your job until you can find something better. You have kids to support and just thinking about yourself doesn't do anything to help your situation. If you have any community colleges in your area, then you could look into getting an apprecenticeship. It's a program where you take classes and get hands on experience. When you graduate you can work and make more money. I hope that this helps.
Good luck

No job is worth the mental stress you are describing. Hold on to the job you have and look around. You should be able to find something similar in pay if you look hard enough. I have had bosses like you are describing and it is not worth the mental anguish just for a few more bucks. Rather be happy than rich.

Life is about happyness man. What is the sence of anything if you are not happy. Ask your kids how they would feel if you made less money and ask your wife what she would think. I would rather have a family and kids and life in a small house and just get bye then have barrels of money and live the life of a fake american dream with barrels of money girls and fast cars. You have to understand happyness is what you make it. You have to weigh your options and discuss it with your family. good luck to you my friend

I agree with the first answer. Don't quit until you have another job, but I'd say it's definitely time to start looking. Good Luck.
