I have a B.A. in Spanish and French, but don't use it. I'm an organist and baker, actually. People ask all the time, "hey when ya going back to teaching?" My answer: "NEVER!"

I love playing the organ and really like to bake too. But I hated teaching, with a capital 'H.'

This is such a pointless question... sorry! But I'm curious as to what others think of this.

I think you should do what you love to do. Why would you want a job that makes you miserable? Most people think of a college degree as a way to earn more money. But really, an education is to broaden your mind, and to make yourself a better person, so that you can contribute to society. Playing the organ and baking are respectful and if you love it great. I have a law degree and am a licensed attorney, which I no longer use. And I don't think that my education was a waste, I have knowledge and experiences that no one can ever take away from me. Good Luck.

I have 2 college degrees and used some knowledge when I was manager before I retired. However, there was nothing saying I had to have the degrees. One doesn't stop learning if one is curious. Happiness in life is so much more important than any amount of money.

I commend them only if they decide not to use it because they are doing something they love in exchange. If they have a degree then they don't do anything, and I mean anything, then I have a problem with that. I find deep respect for those who do what they want and enjoying doing it.
