First of all, I bought a laptop about a month ago. It was my first time buying a laptop so I read a lot of PC magazines before the purchase.
But there was one thing I failed to pay attention which is the size. Before the purchase, I have been using 17" desktop and for some reason it didn't seem that big.
Hence, I felt buying a 17" laptop was not a bad idea. Moreover, I prefer big screen so my eyes get less tired.
But after having used the laptop about a month, I started to notice about 90% of laptop users have 14" laptop. Certainly not bigger than 15.4."
I also started to realize my 17" laptop isn't that portable and doesn't fit into my bookbags. I would have to put it in big bag.
I think I made a huge error in judgment regarding size as I might have to carry it around a lot as a college student.
What do u guys think of my situation? What do you suggest I should do?

Sorry to say that you are probably stuck with this laptop, you said about a month ago, see if you can return it, most stores have extended return policies for anything that was purchased in December but those are running out soon so check with the store, soon, like today or tomorrow soon.

If you can return it, ask for an exchange instead of a refund, if they have a model you like just exchange for it. Most places will charge you a restocking fee if you ask for a refund.

If you can't return or exchange it you could try selling it on eBay but you will most likely take a loss on it, something I would not be willing to do.

The choice is yours...

Most folks buy too big of laptop for the exact same reason, they think screen size is important. Try advertising your laptop on a local college message board and someone will buy it. Then you can reorder a new laptop that will better suit your needs.

Good luck!

If you plan on being in college for the next 10 years, and arent going to use your computer anywhere else, then yes - you made a mistake. But, if any of the above isn't true, then smile the next time someone in class has envy over your big display.

Keep the 17 inch @ home , for good so to speak and get an inexpensive small one to carry.
