When I was this age, I preferred pads.

Once I married and became sexually active, I was more comfortable with tampons, so began using them.

The best method, if you are to use tampons, is alternate the use of them...one month pads, one month tampons.

Using tampons exclusively can lead to excess blood in the uterus, and if you have problems like endometriosis, it can cause more harm to use them than the inconvenience of pads.

Well to put it to you the best way I can I prefer tampons and pads. On the first three days of my period I wear pads then on the fourth and fifth day I wear tampons. I hope this answers your question.

pads - but then again my period isn't heavy and never lasts more than 3 days. and I agree with the other answerer (is that a word) that toxic shock scares the heck out of me

I've never fancied tampons myself. Toxic shock on it's own is enough to put me off.

tampons definatly. they are also more cleaner beause you are not sitting on a soiled pad or anything. the best i have used are tampax pearl plastic.

pads. Have you heard of the cups? I think one is called diva. Has anyone used these?
