why would i get a thumbs down for this questions?! i didnt even state my opinion! plus its obviously a good question because im getting a lot of answers.

Neither. The idea of a "gay gene" has been thoroughly discredited. The choice of being gay is shaped through their developmental years, and the environment and nurturing they are exposed to. People can't exactly choose their parents, neighborhoods, or experiences, until they become actualized.
The idea that noone would choose to be the object of derision is ridiculous. People choose behavior that is antisocial all the time. Would anyone choose to be a masochist? No, homosexuality is a combination of learned behavior and dominance tendencies gone wrong.

Fact is by merely asking this particular question you are displaying a certain prejudice against gay people. After all, if I went around asking "are straight people born straight or do they choose to be straight?" I bet more than a few straight people would get their noses out of joint.

It's a person's choice. Anyone who says it's dna is a retarded redneck. A gay person's dna is exactly the same as a straight person's.

I believe they are born it. No one would choose to be gay and probably ostracized by others so they are born with a sexual attraction for their own sex.
