Fill your reservoir with white vinegar and also get yourself an old towel and now plug the iron on and when it gets steaming put the steam ports on the towel. You will or should see alot of rust coming out of your iron. You may have to do this several times. Always use distilled water that you can buy at your grocery store and always empty the iron when not in use!!!! That way you should not have any problems with your iron rusting!!!

I second the vinegar use as well as to switch to distilled water after you cleaned the reservoir. Let the vinegar sit in the reservoir for awhile then pour distilled water in to "rinse" it all out. You may have to repeat the process to get all the gunk out...
