How does the wolf get over there? I have never had a game like this before and I'm lost

Okay, since you've never had a game like this i'll help you out some. No, i'm not giving you the direct answer, sorry :)
Okay, first see if there are any NPC(non-player characters) nearby for information. If not, carefull examine the environment and your items, be sure that there's not something you're missing or fail to see.
Now, if you still can't find it, you can check out gamespot.com and find the game's FAQs, they normally have many walkthroughs and hints in case you get stuck.

If you are a wolf, either use sense to find a hole to dig, or find a way around. Or see if Midna will do a long jump for you.

i have this game for gamecube and i dont think i have gotten to that part but i am guesing that you turn on your sense thingy and look for a spot to dig under also look on this website for walkthroughs: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
