It depends on the configuration you choose. The more memory you need the more expensive the laptop will be. Not only that, the more stuff you add to a laptop, the heavier it will be. Six or seven pounds might not sound like a lot, but if you're carrying it around everywhere, it can get really heavy really fast.

I just bought a Dell Inspiron E1505 and I love it. I have a 120 GB hard drive which is more than enough space. I looked at the iBook but they are ALOT more expensive; to buy and to have serviced.

I recommend looking on www.consumerreports.org at the laptop ratings. There is a feature on there that will help you decide which laptop fits your needs best.

Dell and Mac both have memory options where you can go up to 2GB if you need that much.

Jesuz Christ, I have been on Yahoo answers for like 3 day and i can believe the lazyness/stupidity of some people, do some research of your own 30 seconds on dell.com or apple.com and you will see that they offer different models with diffrent hard drives, memmory and annything else especiallly dell where you can customize your computer fully if u buy it online.
