I am 5'7 and started off weighing 158.
I went to the Dr. yesterday and he said I gained 3 pounds since my last monthly check up, the month before that I had lost 1 pound.
I am just wondering if I am on the right track, I'm not being overly careful with what I eat or excercise and I'm hoping that 40-50lbs isn't going to all of a sudden sneak up on me!!

You're doing fine...most people who are of average weight gain about three pounds or so in their first trimester and you are just starting your second one....if you keep on track and gain about a pound a week you should fall in the normal 25-35 pound gain area...which is totally healthy for you baby. Congrats!

I'm 17 weeks and I've gained about 11 pounds so far. The doctor said I'm right on track and should be gaining about 4 pounds/month now. I know every pregnancy is different but the midwife went according to a chart based on a total of 30lb weight gain by the end of the pregnancy.

Sounds like your doing good to me, I lost one pound from my first to second visit, and then gained 4 at my next appointment. I was told that was just right.
