It's not that it will be lonely, it's that it will not be healthy. One gallon is not enough for a guppy (it's not enough for any fish, actually). Guppies need swimming room, one guppy should be in a minimum of 6 gallons. EVEN if you go by that awful 1 inch per gallon rule - guppies grow to at least 2 inches.
It will be fine for now, as it is just a baby, of course, but when it gets big enough to go with other fish, it should, because although they aren't schoolers, they are social fish.
What happened to your koi? Did you move it to a pond or did it die?

How young is it if it is a newborn that is not really a newborn? I'm not sure what that means...

Anyway, 1 gallon will be fine for about 2-3 weeks, after that it will grow too big for that tank. Remember, fry are very sensitive, you need to change water every day if there is no filter, even if there is no filter you need to change water at least every 2-3 days for fry.

It will not be lonely, a mirror will not help. The tank is too small anyway.

Yes it will be fine, but most fish get lonly, actually MOST fish ARE lonly its just how they are. But it will be fine, it would be better if you added something to make him/her think it is a lil more enjoyable.
