How does she pronounce Eva? "Ay-va" or "Ev-a" Just curious because I've seen it both ways. I perfer "Ay-va" because "Ev-a" reminds me of "ever" said with an accent. Vera is OK but reminds me of Vera Wang, not that she's a bad person though. Old-fashioned is OK. Look how many Abigails and even Oscars there are now. I have an old-fashioned name, Pauline, and have always loved it. I never come across anyone with my name and yet it isn't ridiculous. For a middle name Eva Danielle/Michelle and Vera Elise/Denise. I also like the suggestion of Vera being a nickname for Veronica. That is cute

Eva Maria or Eva Marie
Vera May or Mae
I think they are nice names, Vera means faithful and Eva means life; or giver of life.
I think looking at the meanings of the names is just as important as the name itself. I really do feel that the meanings have some sort of impact on the bearer of the name. But that's just me. Congrats to your cousin!

Eva is a beautiful name!! I think Vera is kind of old, but that's because I know a couple of really old women named Vera.

Eva is a favorite of mine, but it's definitly climbing the popularity charts right now.
I'm so glad you like Vera! It is such a gorgeous name and is so totally underused. I definitly think it is ready for a comeback. And what an awesome meaning- "faith and truth". Beautiful. Also can be used as a nickname for Veronica, though I prefer it on it's own.
If the surname is longer, I like Vera Jane and Vera Mae. If the surname is shorter, I like Vera Magdalene and Vera Camille.
Good luck to you!

Tell your cousin that a more modern name should be used as their first name. Use Eva or Vera as her middle name instead and use a name like Emma, Lucy or Kate as a more modern and exciting name. It will avoid all the possible bullying at school and make the girl more confident about herself.

Honestly, it's up to your cousin in the end. But, both are very nice names. I especially like Eva. I don't think they're old fashion, but then again, I'm not a big fan of the whole new age way of naming children.

A friend of mine just named her baby girl Nevaeh. It's heaven spelled backwards. I do like the names Vera and Eva and I also like the name Grace. Classic and you can call her Gracie while she's little!

It's really up to her. What your cousin likes or doesn't like. Me personally, I don't like the name Vera but I do like Eva.
