I would suggest you buy some BB King Cd's. You can usually
get them cheap, in like those big discount bins. Buy a couple
bring them home , and listen for a simple track. Once you've
found it, make sure your guitar is in tune to the CD. Then figure
out what key the song is in, and little by little begin trying to
imitate the guitar solo. You might have to begin with 2-3
notes at a time, and then the next 2or 3 notes until you've got
the entire solo down. Hope this helps you, good luck.

No idea, I picked it up by ear. If you cant manage that, get a good musician (not necessarily a teacher, they might rip you off :p) to show you the basics, then when you feel comfortable, carry on by yourself. Books arent really the way to go. Good luck with it!

Take 5 mins to learn how to read tabs:

E -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --------------0-2-4-6-8---
A -0-2-4-6-8----------------
E -----------------------------

For example, that tells you to play the A string on its own, then at the second fret, then the 4th fret etc

Then go to www.ultimate-guitar.com

Search for your favourite song

And try to learn it, but take your time, as it wont be easy. You could also start, by learning some basic scales (A minor pentatonic for example)

There is no easy, quick and "overnight" way to learn the guitar - it's a hard instrument to learn, and will take a lot of time, and dedication, and practice!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Get an experienced guitarist (esp. a music student) to give you some lessons at £10/hour. Ask him for:
@warm-up exercises
@basic playing & techniques (using the plectrum, finger-picking)
@musical theory (chords, scales)

You should go the store and find out yourself. I never used a book and I never had a teacher. I got to my profession by ear.
