Hi, You are supposed to sleep on your left side because sleeping on your back can put too much pressure on your vena cava which is a main artery or vein which supplies blood to your baby. So, if you want to be careful about the bloodflow/oxygen to your baby then do NOT sleep on your back. Even if you don't feel it the bloodflow to the baby can be affected. For me, as pregnancy gets further along I physically can not sleep on my back or stomach because it is just to uncomfortable and then my hips become painful - so maybe using pregnancy pillows is the answer.
I actually remember during an ultrasound I had, the baby's heartrate went down significantly while laying on my back for an ultrasound.

In the early months, yes. The baby is well protected in the womb. But, there will come a point when you just can't sleep on your stomach. You can pretty much sleep on your back throughout...but you may find it to be uncomfortable as you get bigger. The professionals recommend sleeping on your left side...but, I say if you can find a comfortable position, then stick with it (as long as it's not harmful to the fetus!)

You aren't going to want to do that. It's not comfortable. Your belly will be in your way for stomach sleeping and your back will hurt from back sleeping. Also, sleeping on your left will cause pressure on your bladder and will make you want to pee. I found the only way I could sleep was on my right with lots of pillows. Good luck!

Even from very early in pregnancy, doctors recommend sleeping on your left side as is promotes better blood circulation and is better for you and the baby.
If you are in your 2nd and third trimester, this should be applied even more.... You might not be confortible sleeping on your back as you get bigger and even less on your stomach

NO!
Sleeping on your back after the first trimester is a no no.
The fetus puts pressure on your veins and it can cut off oxygen and nutrients to the baby, and to you.
The best position to lay down in is on your sides, especially the left side.

No, the best sleeping position during pregnancy is on your left side (better circulation to your baby).

if your comfortable then theres no problem with it. don't do it too often though because sleeping on your back decreases your blood flow to the placenta.
