It all depends what you're planning to use the laptop for. I would recommend getting at least 1gb of memory, if not more. My home PC has 512mb of RAM and it struggles a bit with stuff like editing digital photos. My laptop, on the other hand, which has a fairly similar processor, has 1GB of RAM and it doesn't even break into a sweat doing the same thing.

For screen size, again it depends what you want the laptop for. If you're planning to move it around, a 17" model will probably be too big. I've got a 15.4" laptop and don't have any problems with the screen size.

I'm not sure what you mean about colours. Most laptops now have pretty good graphics cards in them so they'll have 16-bit and 32-bit displays anyway.

Depends on what you want.
Toshiba, Fujitsu, and etc all make a variety, even the Sony Vaio. They all have pluses and minuses. Some have widescreen ratio screens for DVD Playback, and have awesome sound, or a way to connect to an external device. Always get one with as much memory as you can afford, that helps a lot. 2 Gig of memory IMO.
Shop at Office Depot, Compusa, and Best Buy, see what you like, then buy from Amazon !!!

Depends on what you're gonna do with it. If you're going to game, get at least 512 for your memory, at least a 1024x768 screen. If you're gonna do word processing, then a ton of memory or a super-huge screen isn't going to make a whole lot of difference beyond the fact you can edit more stuff.

the memory depends on whether you want to game or not, and the screen really depends on how portable you want the laptop to be. look at the laptop in a shop to see how the screen looks

for memory, as in RAM, i would go for either 1GB or 2GB based on your budget, but dont go lower then 512MB if you want it to last.

For screen size, i like widescreen 15.4 - because it is big but doesnt take up as much space as a 17 inch standard. I would go for 14 or 15 inch, and maybe a 15.4 widesceen,.

at least 512 memory. However, it really depends on what you're using it for. If you're just using it for e-mail and internet use..then you won't need a large hard drive. If you're a hard core gamer then the specs you'll want will be different than if you're just using it for photo and music storage.
