In Australia it is not necessary to tip anyone, ever - not even taxis. People are paid a fair wage in this country. If someone gives you service above the call of duty or you are feeling generous, you can tip if you want to but you are never obliged to do so. In a taxi you often round off to the nearest dollar above the fare but just as often, the driver will round it down. If people rely on tips to get a decent wage then they are not being paid enough. The cost of the service should be included in the cost of the product and the employer should pay a fair wage. If everyone in the USA stopped tipping, how long do you think it would be until the entire service industry was on strike for better pay? Don't ask about how much you should be paying other people's employees, demand the employers pay them a better wage.

traditionally i have found most dont tip on to go orders but you dont realize they did have to answer the phone, place your order, get the order together and make sure you get what you should get, then bag it add the condiments and all that when they could have taken a table and yes gotten a tip, do i give them as much as i would if i had dined in, no, but on a 20 dollar to go order, whats 2 bucks???? when i tip like this on my to go orders i usually get all the dang ketchup i need, i think they try to "hook me " up in return, in the few small ways the waiters can....

You don't have to tip anyone at all, a tip is a gift.
TIP is an acronym, it means To Insure Promptness, It has been only in the last few years that it has become part of a waitstaff's income, this allows bussiness owner's to use a loophole to underpay their staff.

YES YES YES!
You placed and were served an order taken by a person who works for tips.
I usually tip about 10 -12% for pick up orders at a bar and grill.
