Anyone who has had breast implants....how long did it take you to get complete normal feeling back in your nipples? Its been a month since my surgery and they are still not right. They kinda feel numb but if messed with much its uncomfortable...kinda hurts. I'm hoping the "normal" feeling comes back!

Loss of breast sensation is a possible complication of breast augmentation. Certain approaches have a higher risk of loss of nipple sensation.

Were the implants placed under the skin or the muscle? Where were the incisions placed? When placed through the underarm or through the bellybutton, there is a decreased incidence of sensation changes than when they are placed through a circumareolar incision (incision around the nipple). Likewise, there is a decreased incidence when placed under the muscle rather than when placed under the skin only.

Regardless of the approach used, nipple sensation changes can occur with any breast augmentation. However, give yourself a little more time. Healing of any injury to the body takes about 6 months. During this time, you may have improved return of sensation and less discomfort. Give it a little more time. If there is any continued concern, go back and see your plastic surgeon. He or she was the one there doing the surgery and they know best what might be going on.

Hi,

Not sure about implants but when they get cutting in there they could have cut a nerve. Had a friend who had a reduction doen and her nipples lost feeling permently. Hope this is not the case for you too. I'd ask your doctor but some delicate nerve endings could have been nicked and may take time to make new connections.
