What is the best household chemicals to make homemade crystals?

I know how to make them but I need to know the best chemicals.

The best crystals from kitchen ingredients are made from alum. Make sure you make a saturated solution with boiling water and let it cool with a thread in it for the crystals to form on.

I've used heated alum and water in the jewelry business. When the water evaporated there were some great crystals.

Usually, just plain vinegar works.
