At the point you are at doctors rely more on your percentage of effacement ( how thinned out your cervix is) and how far down the baby is in your pelvis. It is frustrating to have to wait but it is better for you and for the baby to go into labor naturally. I know about the waiting, b/c I am now 7 months preg with beautiful baby #6, and all five previous have been late, from 2 days to 2 weeks and two of them were induced. Also, dilation does not necessarily mean alot on its own, I dilated at seven months with a couple of them and they were STILL overdue. Next Dr. appt., ask dilation# AND effacement # AND where the babys head is in your pelvis (station). This is what they use to determine if you are a good candidate for induction. They may also break your water or strip your membranes (uncomfortable but not painful). This can be done during regular office visit. GOOD LUCK and don't rush, your baby WILL greet the world. GET SOME SLEEP WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!

Not necessarily. Some women dilate very slowly over the course of several days or even weeks without noticing a thing. (With my first child, I was shocked to go to a routine doctor visit and find I was already dilated to 5), while others only start to dilate after they go into labor.
You've still got a couple weeks before the doctor will recommend inducing you and a lot can happen in that time. Don't stress over it. You're normal.

That depends on your doctor, your exam results, and what you want.
Your doctor has views about inducing, and those will come into his decision.
Your exam results, showing that you are free of infection and what expected size your baby is and his or her heart rate, etc. will play the biggest factor in your doctor's and your decision.
How insistent you are will also play a role. I suggest you don't be induced by drugs unless your doctor thinks it is medically necessary (it can cause complications with labor), but he can break your water with a little tool. If you are healthy and your baby is ready to be born, you can influence your doctor to break your water.
Personally, I went to the hospital with what I thought was labor pains 5 days before my due date. The doctor said he would induce me, but my urine test showed I had a UTI. They pumped me full of antibiotics and sent me home. 4 days later I went into the doc's office for an exam, my urine was clean, and he broke my water at the hospital later that evening.
Congrats and Good Luck!

It depends on what your doctor and you prefer. Some will go ahead and schedule an inducement, some prefer to wait two weeks past the due date. If this is your first baby and she hasn't descended into the birth canal, your doctor may also talk to you about scheduling a c-section. Good luck!

Its hard to tell at this point. Dr's will save inducing to the last passable thing. So I would say at this point no. A lot can happen in 4 days, and if this is your first then you can expect to go late anyways! Good luck to ya!

Not necessarily.
Most docs will let you go 2 weeks overdue before inducing, so you've still got time.
With my first I wasn't dilated on my due date and he was born naturally 1 week overdue.
