I'm just a little concerned because in only 4.5 months into my pregnancy and I've already gained over 25 lbs. Everyone I know says they don't think I've gained too much but I feel it and the scale proves it.

I gained FIFTY pounds. The day I tipped the scale at 201 pounds was not my best day.

My doctor reassured me that I was retaining a tremendous amount of water (my feet looked like water balloons!).

Indeed, one week after my son was born, I'd lost 25 pounds.

If your doctor isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either. Get out and take some walks and you'll feel much better.

i was a little underweight my first pregnancy (5'7" and 122 lbs) and i gained 50 lbs that pregnancy. for this pregnancy i started at 138 lbs and i've gained 12 so far (15 weeks). I gain really fast since I don't exercise as much in the first trimester since I'm so sick. I'm trying to be more careful this time around. The weight did NOT melt right off.

That is quite a bit for so early. At 20 weeks I had gained about 8-12 pounds with all three of my pregnancies. Sometimes moms gain a lot in the beginning though and it levels off later. Or if you were very underweight to begin with, this might be an appropriate weight gain for you. Your doctor will let you know.

I'm 32 weeks and have gained about 18-19 lbs. But, I was overwieght to begin with so I have really been watching what I eat. Some people can afford to gain 40 lbs, but not me. My cousin just had her baby, she was relatively thin to begin with. She said she gained a little over 40 lbs, but I really couldn't tell. She just looked a little plumper around the edges with a basketball belly (she had a boy.) They say that normal weight gain is 25 lbs, but if you were really skinny to begin with, you may need more than that to sustain both you and the baby.

Try to cut back if you can.... every preg. is different. My first one I went from being a strick Vegitarian to only wanting steak.... (and gained 70 lbs!!!) My second I gained 15 and my third I gained 25.... I am about 5.5 months with my fourth and have gained only 7 lbs so far. My second and third I gained most of the weight towards the begining, and only put on about 5 lbs in the last trimester. I wouldn't worry about it so much. If you feel that you are putting on too much try to watch what you eat.... (not diet!) and make healthier choices.... also lots of water will help you feefl more filled up so your not wanting to eat as much! (trickI learned with my last ones...) Good luck and as long as your doc isn't concerned... I wouldn't be either!

I gained 45 during my pregnancy. I gained all of my weight though in the first 6 months. After that, I was hardly gaining a pound or two a month. But it sucks getting it off so try to control the gain as much as possible!!! But it sounds like you are okay.

I gained 39lbs... I also had a 9lb 10oz baby... and the entire time, my doctor said both me and baby were VERY healthy. Just try to exercise, and dont' over eat! You really aren't eating for "two" as some say... you only need a few more calories than normal. So don't eat two meals because you think one is for you and one for baby. Also- you can try to eat lightly all throughout the day instead of eating 3 big meals. And eat healthy foods. All of this helps.

They say 25-35lbs to gain through the pregnancy is ok. I was 4 lbs over that... I also lost all of it but 2 lbs very quickly after my son was born. Again, almost 10lbs of that was him! lol You'll just have to make sure you eat healthy and exercise after you have your baby too. Don't stress too much!

Goodluck!

It depends on your weight before you got pregnant.
If you were underweight before, you should expect to gain 35-40 lbs. If normal 25-35. If overweight 20-25. Something like that.
For me, I am 7 months and have already gained almost 25 lbs already. I was on the border of normal weight and overweight, so my DR is a little mad at me.
But to me, as long as you are eating nutritously and not eating JUNK, it should be okay.

I gained over 60 lbs with my pregnancy. It was not healthy at all - it hurt my joints, back, and it really hurt my feet. I still have to go to the podiatrist (foot doctor) because of gaining so much weight so quickly. I advise for you to be very careful. It isn't just bad for you, you could also develop other problems like gestational diabetes.

p.s. I lost all of it in less than 8 months by following weight-watchers on-line and breastfeeding. Breastfeeding really helped the most.

I gained 27 lbs in all after all 9 1/2 months! Everyone is different, keep eating, don't not eat just cause you are gaining more, you may lose some. Good Luck, you sound fine to me!
