I am in a process of doing exactly that right now.
It feels... you said it - intolerable.
It also feels like it shouldn't be happening to me, and this feeling of self-pity is even more intolerable than any heartbreak, imagined or real.
Which kind of helps.
What also helps is the knowledge that this sort of thing had happened to me before, and I lived to tell all those nostalgic little tales that come afterwards.
So I know - if not necessarily feel - that I will be just fine... any minute now.

Yes, I had too say goodbye to my boyfriend of two years when I moved countries with my family. We kissed and i held him and never wanted to let him go. Then my dad told me to get in the car and he stood there waving as we drove away... makes me sad still just thinking about it.
