Odd habit of mine at book fairs: if I couldn't find what I was looking for, I'd buy one book that just "caught my eye". I've found some rubbish, but have a nice shelf of "odd books" with peculiar or unlikely titles. What have other people discovered in this category?
I can recommend "The Social History of the Machine Gun"
And "Scalded to Death by the Steam."

Several years ago I read _Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World_ by Haruki Murakami. I bought the book because I was intrigued by the title.

It was a happy discovery. I continued on to read most of his books after that. His novels tend towards the surreal. Very intriguing.

A gentleman in King Arthur's court
I can hear the morning dove (more of a teen age book, but really good)
Have space suit Will travel
Deep Blue Sea

There are more, but I can't think of them right now. Great idea though to pick up a book you would otherwise never think of reading. I've done that a few times myself and had fun!

Lord of the Barnyard by Tristan Egolf may be the one....although reading Richard Russo's "Straight Man" did seem to get my boss uncomfortable when he noticed the title and probably took it as a different meaning.

"Rash" by Pete Hautman.
The story of a boy in future America who is accused of causing a rash in his high school and is sentenced to community service work in a pizza factory, where he plays on their illegal football team. Meanwhile his artificial intelligence he created is hatching a plan to break him out of jail. It was very different, surprisingly clever, and really funny. Read it.

I saw one of my sisters old books lying around one day and it looked terribly old fashioned, nothing that i would read. It was called "Everything To Gain" by Barbara Taylor Bradford. I have to say, it's now one of my favourite books. Its true you know, never judge a book by its cover...
