Just a note for the Landrover owners - I've had Landies since the early seventies and never had one fail an MOT, Current model is a Disco V8i, now coming up eleven years old, its a piece of cake to work on and pretty cheap for spares.
I suggest if you want to own a specialist vehicle you learn to look after it properly and not go to the rip off main dealers that charge an absolute fortune.

The cost of a standard MOT is now £50.35. The only reason it could cost more is if there has been work carried out on it.

you must have had work done to your car, i test cars for there mots, and once had a ford fiesta 1991, which failed on front brake(discs and pads) inner and outer sills (corroded), seat belt missing a blown rear exhaust box and both lower ball joints were worn, the car was worth about £300 all the work with the mot came to £355, which he had done, when he came back for the next mot the windscreen was cracked.
