This started on Wednesday. Stool "seemed" a tad darker than usual (the sight of blood probably made me see different) , and there was a tiny bit of blood surrounding it in the toilet.

Tried again today, and stool was back to it's normal color, but with no blood in the toilet. Only had to wipe once to get rid of any possible blood.

Should I be worried?

By the way, could alcohol be a cause of this? I've basically drank 5 days out of the past week (concert, trip to Atlantic City, and New Years). I usually don't do something like this.

Thanks.

There was no pain involved.

And yes, the blood was its normal red color.

if the blood was red you probably had a slight tear or a blood vessel burst or a hemorrhoid. nothing to worry about it will heal on its own
if your stool is black and i mean black not a darker brown you could have a sign of internal bleeding or some type of GI bleeding issue and get check right away.

Alcohol wouldn't really cause that. But what can cause blood in the stool is Chrone's disease, or Collitis (sp?)- both you will need to go to a doctor and be tested for (testing is not fun by the way). Be sure that you just haven't torn your anus (sorry, I know that sounds kind of gross), sometimes if you've strained too much during a BM, you can tear the area around there, and it can bleed. Hemmroids can also cause this.

alchohol can most definitely cause bleeding in the intestinal tract and elsewhere in the body, it thins the blood.
Bright blood in the stool is most often caused by internal hemmorhoids. Eat more fiber, drink more water to soften stools so they don't cause the hemmorhoids to bleed.
Black stools (actually looks like tar) indicate bleeding higher up in the gastric tract and is a medical emergency.

I'd talk to a doctor just to be safe. It's not likely that it's prostate cancer, or anything like that; but you can't be too careful. That's not something you want to gamble with. Go see a doctor as soon as you can just to get it checked out.

Heavy drinking can cause this, but if it continues to happen see your doctor. It can be a sign of several serious problems.
