Because in the song she's breaking up with her live-in boyfriend and kicking him out. So he has to put everything he owns in the box to the left while he's packing to leave... just listen to the rest of the lyrics. They explain it quite nicely.

I think the whole song is about getting her boyfriend to move out of her house, and that specific lyric must mean "put your stuff to the left" to separate it from her stuff. Does that make sense? Reading the whole lyrics may help, and watching the music video.
