I am at 37 weeks and one day today. At my weekly visit this morning the Doc said I am at a 6 and very thin. He said anytime...now I am a nervous wreck and edgy and afraid that I not going to make it to the hospital 25 miles away. What do you all think?

I am not having contractions at all...just very uncomfortable to say the least. He said that they really dont want to induce if they dont have to because of things like jaundice, breating problems, ect...

If you are uncomfortable with it, call your doctor and insist that you be admitted to the hospital.
They are working for you, you are paying the doctor's salary and the hospital bill. Stand up for yourself and make them earn their money.
Congratulations!

I would tell them that you are uncomfortable and want to go to the hospital now. I was 3 cm. for a whole week. I got checked in the am and was still 3 cm, then that night I started having contractions. When I called, they told me to wait it out at least an hour, because it was my first and would take a while. When I got to the hospital I was 6 cm. and they put me right in a room. The worst part was the car ride because it was hard to sit because of all the pressure. I would say to get in the car as soon as you have your first couple of contractions. The chances of you not making it to the hospital are slim. It will still probably be a while before you deliver, but at least they can help you get comfortable.
Start to finish my labor was 'only' 10 hours.

First... congratulations!
I would say, talk to your doctor about this. Does he/she know you have a fairly long drive to the hospital? Will he/she recommend you be admitted now? No doctor wants a baby to be born on the way, either, and your doctor knows enough about you & your body to know if you need to get there NOW, vs when it's "time".
This is my opinion: I think you're still ok, because you're not contracting. The rule of thumb for labor is if your contractions last for more than 40 seconds, and are coming at regular intervals, go to the hospital. If your water breaks (few women don't know it has, most definitely know), again, go to the hospital.
If your doctor says to wait, try to keep busy. If you haven't packed your bag, you should do that now. If you have, you may want to double-check it. Are you mobile enough to clean up a bit? That will help calm your nerves. Anything you can do to stay busy plus prepare for the baby is a good thing.
Lastly, good luck, and happy delivery! I hope it all goes very well for you two!

Don't worry about it, hun. The average labor last for many hours after the first contractions hit. You'll have plenty of time to get to the hospital before your baby is born. The worst thing you can do is worry and stress over this when you need to be resting up, preparing for your little one to get here.
Just make sure your bags are packed and you're ready to go when the time comes.
Oh, and if it's any comfort, I was 5cm dilated with my son for three weeks before I went into labor. It's normal.

I think that's weird that your 6cm and he sent you home. I have never heard of that in my life. I guess the best you can do is try to enjoy the last few days you have being pregnant it goes by fast. I know that's hard to do when your at this stage but it will help get you threw it. I say right when you start feeling contractions get your butt to the OB right aways! I hope your bags are packed and ready to go. Have you lost your plug or has your water broke yet? 6cm and very thin at home and no contractions..........Sounds odd!

i have had some. not lately. The very last time change into like a year in the past. i change into annoyed and went psycho on human beings. I yelled at my mothers and fathers. And trashed my room. Made dents contained in the walls. Threw stuff at a reflect. Broke it. Kicked the door in even as it did not close on the first try. I easily have a punching bag contained in the storage now lol. It lasted minutes. i might want to experience myself over heated and irritable all day inspite of the indisputable fact that. i ultimately snapped. I felt extremely exhausted after.

you will prob make it..but why don't you just check yourself in the hospital now? You are more than halfway there..the last half usually goes pretty quick...If you are having contractions I would just go in to the hosp. Eat though.....you will be tired other wise. I know they say don't but that's only because they don't want you to puke on them and in case they have to put you to sleep for an emegency (not common).
