Has anyone done the 4D ultrasounds? Where I live, it costs $230 and insurance does not cover any of the cost. Is it worth the cost? Any other information that anyone has would be appreciated! :)

There is only one certified person that I know of in my area that does it. The 2D ones are about $150..but the pictures don't seem to compare to the 4D. Plus, you get a DVD, a CD Rom with 20-30 images for emailing, 3-4 black and white photos and 12-14 color photos. My husband thinks that its too expensive, but I don't want to regret that I didn't do it..but I'm not totally sure its worth the cost.

4-D pictures are amazing however you need to be careful. There are some places that offer 4-D packages and the ultrasound technicians are not sufficiently trained. If you do decide to get the 4-D make sure it is done by a professional and not at a novelty place. My OBGYN has 4-D packages. I would make sure to check your OBGYN and do it through your doctor. You just don't want to risk an improperly trained technician fooling around with an ultrasound machine...better safe than sorry.

As for the cost...it does seem quite high HOWEVER I think that it is completely worth it. The pictures are amazing and something you'll have forever...and won't it be neat to show your child those pictures later on down the road?

The package price you were discussing of $230 may be high because it is through your doctor, where you are assured in having a trained professional performing the scan. I think the extra couple bucks is worth it if that's the case!

Good Luck!

I had one at 29 weeks and I only paid $100 it was well worth it all my pictures were clear and the baby looked beautiful I even got the chance to count his little fingers and toes. If you can aford it go for it or try and save some money every week until you get the 230 if you really want it . I would do it all over again and I highly recommend it.

i had a 4D ultrasound done a few weeks ago and it was amazing. However, my dr. did it for me for free b/c he is so awesome. After having one though, I would have definitely paid for it if i had to. But wait until you are about 27-30 weeks...the picture is SO MUCH BETTER. plus there is less room for them to turn over so you have a better chance at a good pic.

It's worth it but not for $230. I'd see about getting a cheaper package or something.

I think I paid $150 for 30mins, lots of pics and a DVD

i have had the 4d ultrasounds done. my insurance covers it though. they are awesome pictures, but not worth the cost. i had them done with my first, and i also had a tape that recorded all my ultrasounds. now with my 2nd i look forward to the ultrasounds, which my doctor does every visit. but i would say, if you would like to have one done, because they are awesome pictures, then i would reccomend getting just 1 done about your 5th month. congrats and good luck

I don't know what state your in but I found one online yesterday for only $179 and it's only one down from their highest end package. I am thinking of doing it. I am 23 weeks and I ready you should be about 28 to get better pictures.
