Here's the difference between high school and real life: In high school, you still get 'punished' if you don't show up. Don't show up for college or law school, and you are the one who suffers. Yes, it is as hard as they tell you it is; lawyers have to have a deep respect and understanding of the law before they can attempt to warp it to their clients' needs.

My brother is in law school currently, and basically the job of the law school professors is to weed out not only those who can't cut it as lawyers, but those who just can't handle the work or courseload. They don't care if you pass or fail, they don't care about you, they just want to make good lawyers out of those who stick around.

In college too, if you miss a class, you won't get detention, but you might miss that pop quiz, and lose out on that grade, and won't be able to make it up. Turn an assignment in late even by a few minutes? I've had professors who won't accept them, even by 2 minutes.

One piece of advice, you'll be doing a lot of writing - compositions, reports, essays, whatever, and I don't know one professor who isn't a stickler for grammar and spelling, so I suggest start working on that now. I have known people who refuse to accept papers which contain "IM Speak (using "u", or "ur" doesn't work in law school or college.)

Any type of school you take will be the same as high school the courses may be more in depth and take more study time but if things are easy they usually are a disappointment. Whatever a person wishes to do requires dedication and determination.

Since Law School is something YOU want to do. You will be more inclined to put fourth the effort needed. So in That respect it will be as hard as you make it on yourself.
