First, open your windows and really air the place out.

Next, I would spray Febreeze on all upholstered surfaces, to cover the smoky smell in the furniture.

I would also buy some powdered carpet deodorizer (you can find this pretty cheaply at your local Dollar Store) - sprinkle it down, let it set for a while, then vacuum it up.

Finally, you could spray some air freshner throughout the house, or light scented candles. If you were really ambitious, you could also put on your stove, a small saucepot of water, cinnamon sticks and cloves and put it on to boil. Keep an eye on it though and take it off before the pot boils dry. Otherwise, you'll have another awful odor to contend with!!

Good luck -- hope this information helps!!

Unfortunately cigarette smoke doesn't just stay in one room. It seeps out underneath the bedroom doors and permeates the entire house. My parents both smoke in their house and even though they keep the bedroom and computer room door closed it still stinks. Do yourself a favor and don't smoke anymore...it's a nasty habit...BTW take a quick shower and spray the room with febreeze...your bed and carpet too.
