It depends on where you had it (which part of your body). You can have sex as soon as you feel ready,but if it starts to hurt STOP!!! If is continues to hurt then you may have damaged the stiches and should go and see your surgeon IMMEDIATLY!!!

if your doctor didnt mention this perhaps you have other things to worry about more than this... call up another office and find out for sure. int he mean time dont risk it.
