I mean, he is a winning player, he plays better the tougher the situations he is put in, He is a remarkable hitter (i think he and ichiro have more hits over the last 5 years than anyone in baseball), He's a nice guy, he never gets into crap, you never hear bad stuff about him, he never talks bad about other players even though it seems sumtimes like people want him to, He's respectful... I mean, he's not my favorite player, That would be Mariano Rivera , Don Mattingly, or Paul Oneill, but i just don't get what it is about him that people outside of NYC and Boston (because boston fans respect him alot) that makes people outside of NYC dislike him... i dont get it. with all the idiots around Baseball, i would think there would be better targets to vent on.

What the hell are you talking about? i can honestly say ive never heard Jeter critisize ANYONE, thats one of the "problems" people say they have about him, he isnt an in your face leader who calls people out in public. When people ask him about other players, he always figures out a way to tip toe around the question, which annoys the hell out of me. And Ive never heard him respond badly to anything critical anyone else has said about him...not because he doesnt want to i think, but because he seems to be way too media savvy..which also drives me nuts, you never see him just lose it and blow up..... So you are clueless dude.

oh god!! what is it with you people...it does not bother me that people dislike him for whatever reasons they have...i asked the question because i was curious WHY they dont care for him, because he seems like a nice guy. and again... ive been to Cali, Washington state, Down South, Midwestern states, the Central US.. and the oppinion of people i always ask is that he is "Over Rated and Whiney"... so please with the "Are you joking, everyone loves him" crap... go sell that stuff sumwhere else.

WOW, somebody's on a rampage. I am not a Yankee fan but I am a fan of Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams. Tone it down, and read again what Mr. Clutch said 'cause I agree with him.
I have been all over this country and in many ballparks and I don't see or hear this hatred you are talking about.
Jeter is baseball and the best representative we have for all of baseball. He is a role model for so many young children, Something I appreciate, considering the lack of decent role models out there today.

Don't let what others say about Jeter bother you.
He's young, handsome, has dated Miss Universes, Sexiest Woman Alive, Pop Divas, Actresses. He's rich and he seems to be a truly nice person. He is everything that exemplifies what a true professional is all about.
Those who slam him, who can say what motivates those people. But, if I have said it once, I will say it a gazillion times more. Anybody would be proud to have Jeter on their team. And those who say "no way" Who cares?
For the record, I would gladly date him if I was a bit younger and if I was old enough, I would be proud to call him my son

Being a Mid Western boy, Everybody around here hates the Yankees and that is why Jeter is hated so much. He is a good player but he will always be overrated.

hazeltine, when have you ever heard Jeter whine? When he lost the mvp he congratulated Morneau. When Ortiz said he didn't deserve the mvp he didn't make a big deal just said he is still playing for something. Many don't like him just cause of the jersey he wears. Not many people hate the guy just the jersey on him. If those people knew anything at baseball they would know he is one of the classiest players in the league and is also the face of the league.

Because the people who put him down like to drink lots of Haterade. He is arguably, the greatest shortstop ever. He may even be the first, and so far only Yankee to get 3000 hits in his career. He is also the only Yankee to win the All-Star game MVP. He is a likeable guy, and is a pretty good autograph signer. I assume most of his critics are red sox fans. The red sox will never have as great a shortstop as Jeter. So, the reason why people dislike him is because of jealousy.

i know why...they are jeleous that they dont have a player in their team with experience, leadership, rings, and good lookings. i love jeter and the reason he doesnt talk to the media is a great one, he just doesnt what to me distracted by the media. Plus the media knows the type of person that he is so they dont ask him the type of question that they will ask an Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod answers almost every question. He needs to learn that from his little buddy over at SS. I love Jeter and love that he bleeds pinstripes!!!!

in my opinion, i think of Derek Jeter is between the wonderful gamers obtainable. he's a participant who performs confusing, hustles, and consistently provides a hundred and ten %. His hits with suited mechanics and makes astounding performs interior the sphere. He has the main hits as a shortstop ever and is for specific for the hall of recognition. additionally, he never used steroids.

When you say so many people dislike Jeter, are you referring to this site?
Outside of this site I have yet to hear anything negative about Jeter the player nor Jeter the man, and I have watched his entire career from day one.
People may try to target him because he's so well respected and liked by Yankees fans just to tick them off, but there's nothing substantial to work with.
Considering you're the only person on the planet that has noticed something that the rest of has not, makes you very special person.
