Cherokee seems like it would be easy to prove, compared to other tribes. The final rolls of the Cherokee Nation are kept at the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington D.C, and at the 13 regional archives, and at libraries all over the country.

Start tracing your genealogy. Once you have traced back to a person listed on the final rolls, contact the tribe to be enrolled.

O Si Yo,

I've been working my geneology for the last five years. I have discovered that members of my family were registered with the Cherokee Nation. Talaquah, Oklahoma is where the tribal nation counsel is. You can write to them or email them and find out what you must do to prove your heritage.
