I've noticed all the answers relate to white people, the question is why can't people? The answer,?? who know's. people can and will always be cruel to those who are different, until they actually talk to, or work along side someone of different color. Here in the Los Angeles area, the division is between the "Black's and the Hispanic's". and the tension affect's ALL races.

Well, yes there is still a lot of hatred towards blacks. There is black hatred towards whites. The roots of this hatred runs long and deep. Some people will never let go of their feelings about the other race. I feel with time things will get better very slowly.

Gosh, since I work with several colleagues who are black and attend church with a number of people who are black and have neighbors who are black, it would be very difficult for me to indifferent towards them. They'd be puzzled and probably hurt since we're usually pretty friendly.

There are people on both sides that don't want to let go of the past.
Bitter whites and equally bitter blacks.
I wish it was not like that but neither side will let it go.
Each side blames the other of being divisive.
It is a cultural impasse.
A "you have yours and we will have ours" mentality.
I wish it was more like the UK here but it is not and even though it is getting better it still has a long way to go.

It must be very painful to live with the belief that every white person secretly hates you, even when they act perfectly normal. As a white person, I don't know what to do about it except to continue acting normal. But it makes me sad.

it i tought to them growing up which is really stupid when you stop to think about the fact that we all bleed red blood.i do not think that mixed race couples is a wonderful thing just on the basis that the children that come from that union pay dearly with name calling

coz majority of the caucasians in the US do not think further than their neighborhood... hence, ignorance and total lack of understanding for other culture.
