I'd, personally, go with good job and low pay - happiness is very important. If you'd be happier doing something else, maybe you should consider it. Make sure it is the right time to take this descision though. x

I don't think its quite as black and white as the question proposes. If its a crap job, how good is the pay? Is the pay good, or is it great? If its great, you can tolerate a crap job, while if its merely good, you may want to find something more appealing but with a lower pay. Unless you getting payed lots and lots of money for a crap job, it becomes very difficult to go to work everyday. Pretty soon work feels more like prison. If you have relatively few financial obligations, I would choose the good job with low pay. You'll enjoy it more which affects how your supervisor perceives you, which leads to better opportunities in the future. Whereas if you have to drag yourself to work everyday, you won't feel enthusiastic about your work and your boss will notice. You'll doing the acceptable minimum to keep your job. You won't get fired, but you won't get promoted either.

Neither. I'll soon move on from a crap job, just the same as a good job with crap pay. But, out of the two I'd rather be enjoying myself and getting little for it - that can be changed, whereas if the job is boring that is harder to change. I have suffered both and neither work for long.

Find your happy medium. You will be working a long long time. It is a balance and if you are fortunate enough you will be in a position to choose between crappy job and good money or good job and crappy money.
Go to school long enough and get the right education that you can take the job that pays good and does not suck. It is obtainable.
My strategy for the new year is to live within my means (make less bills) because in the end it is not how you make, it is how much you have left when your bills are paid.

I think that you should go with good job and low pay because if you stick to it and get better and better at it, one day you will get a great job with great pay. But if you go with crap job you will always dislike the job.

Good job and low pay. My job is crap pay but I love it to bits. Most of my time is spent there. May as well enjoy it, right?

It depends - I used to work in film and I loved it, but wages are so low that I found, in the end, that it wasn't worth it. It's okay to work for £6 an hour when you first graduate. But then when you get a bit older you realise that if you don't have money then you're missing out on a lot - you're not going to be able to travel, you're not going to be able to buy a house, you're not going to be able to have any kind of financial security for the future.
So I changed industries (I now work in IT recruitment), and I now love my job *and* I'm making decent money.
People say that money isn't everything, but trust me, it's a lot more important than those people would have you believe.
So I hope you find something you enjoy doing that pays decently!

Depends if you have lots of credit card debt to pay off.
I would go for good pay for a crap job..set your target! How long will it take to pay off your bills. List how much you can afford each month..You never know you may enjoy the job and people eventually.
Good Luck

I have an awesome job but the pay could be a little higher. But since I just started then I don't complain. I am waiting to let my work speak for itself. It already had paid off. My boss gave me a $150 Christmas Bonus and a $50 gift certificate to a record store and a $50 (I saw the price tag) coffee table book which relates to my job.
For now I will make the sacrifice and take the job I love and wait to get paid more once my boss feels I have earned it, if he doesn't then I walk ;)

How about a good job with good pay? They are out there!
But to answer your exact question...providing the crap is not too unbearable.... I would take the crap job. You don't have to stay in it forever and you'll be able to make and save more money.

A job you like..you can make good pay at a job you hate but where does that get you down the line? Better happiness and lower pay.
