I'm trying to get a death certificate of my fathers who died in Washington 10 years ago, I now live in Utah. I need to now how I can get a copy and most importantly if I can get one that doesn't cost money. Thanks.

It involves contacting the county coroner or attending physition that filled out the certificate. There will be a fee but it'll be a lot cheaper than actually going to washiington to hunt it down personally. Be armed with his personal info full name soc# and the like. You must also prove that you're next of kin.

You need to contact the county recorder in the county where he died. They will have the deed publicly recorded there. You should be able to get an unofficial copy faxed to you for little or nothing, but if you need a certified copy, then plan on spending $10-20. Are you talking about WA state or DC?

call the coroner's office in Washington and ask your questions. They will direct you.
