Why spy on them?

That's the problem today, parents hide their own actions but want their children to live to a higher standard.

Why not just ask them where they go on the net? Why spy on them?

If you were my mom, I would not trust you as far as I could toss you. What a mom... spy on the kids... wow.

But, you asked so here you go....

You have a HISTORY icon ... set it where it stores the activities... set it where you the parent is the only one that can change the settings.... how old are your children you want to spy on?

If you trust your kids, don't spy on them. If you're concerned for them, ask them to show you their myspace, et cetera, and explain your worries to them. Explain to them why it is dangerous to give out personal information online.

Spying is a BAD idea. If they catch you, their trust in you will be gone. For a long time. They will probably be less likely to open up to you, and your relationship will be trashed. And what will you do if you DO find out that your son has seen a porn website? Confront him about it? Make him never want to talk to you again? What if you DO find you through your daughter's IM conversations that she has that boyfriend she insists is just a friend? Tell her you know and that she can never see him again?

You couldn't do that becuase your kids would rebel horribly. It's a bad decision to make.

It's much better to keep things in the open. Tell them your concerns, tell them that you want them to keep safe and talk to them about internet safety and morality, and tell them that you respect them, trust them, and love them.

how about this :: instill some trust and try that before you go "spying on them" iff youre not smart enough to know about web filtering software, then its pretty safe to assume youre not smart enough to be a parent. The notion youre getting advice from an anonymous internet user as to how to raise your children is just another fine example.

Dont worry about what they see on the net - with you as an influence - their lives are doomed to peril regardless.....my space isnt gonna hurt.

How about opening up communication with your children letting them know where they can and can not go. Also keep their computer in a room where you can watch them.
