Need to resize a jpeg image... it's currently 72 dpi, but needs to be 1200 dpi ASAP! Is this possible and how do I accomplish this? I am very computer savy, but have never been in this situation before, ergo I am a bit lost. Thanks in advance!

The size is 720 x 440. If it's blurry, I can clean it up and that might work because it's not a photograph, just a simple corporate logo. Regardless of whether it will work or not, what are the steps I need to take to increase the dpi? Thanks!

Lisa,
Any number of programs can do this for you. I use Photoshop. The problem is that you are seriously reducing the quality of your image. It will be quite blurry I'm afraid.

If you don't have Photoshop, send me the jpg and I'll do it for you...

Something you need to keep in mind - not only the current dpi - but also the overall pixel count of the image.

If it is 72dpi and measures an inch by an inch - as the other answers have mentioned - there's really no point.

However, if it is 72dpi and the effective size at that resolution is 36" by 24", let's say, then you have might have something to work with depending upon what the image size needs to be...

There's two ways to change dpi - one is to actually resample (i.e. - actaully change the content of the image) and the other is to modify the effective resolution by changing the scale from 72 to 1200. If you do that, to pursue our second example, a 36x24" 72 dpi image is made up of 2592 pixels vertically and 1728 across. Change the dpi count to 1200, and you now have a 1200 dpi image that measures about 2"x1.5"...

Make sense?

quite blurry is an understatement. 72 dpi to 1200 will be unviewable.

That not gonna work.
You can't add resolution, only remove.
