There is no way to know for sure. The globe has been warming for about 18,000 years, and will probably continue for a while. Somehow people have always adapted.

Michael Crichton's "State of Fear" is an entertaining novel with some interesting scientific premises. Although the following website - http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?p=74 - has an opinion about that.
In any case, as responsible citizens of the world we should be trying to take good care of it! If we aren't responsible citizens, then it won't matter to us what anyone tells us. We'll just go ahead and live for today, greedily and selfishly.

No the bad effects are already happening. Polar bears are dying because there is not enough ice and their drowning trying to get to land. That to me is a pretty bad effect.
