This is a tough question, follow the link and read the story for details.

A severely brain damaged girl is being given a treatment which will intentionally stunt her growth to "keep her small".

What is your opinion? Is this:

A) a violation of the hippocratic oath, "do no harm", and a violation of the little girl's rights

B) a great way for her parents to "care for" her

C) absolutely no one's business but the doctor and the family

C. Why is this situation of concern to you even?

I do feel that this is a violation of the hippocratic oath... I cannot believe that these parents found one, never mind a TEAM of, doctors to do this for them.

If this is how they feel about their daughter, I must question why they even bothered to have her in the first place. I don't hold anything against parents that choose to abort childrent hat are going to be disabled. But to have the kid and then mutilate it, just seems a bit wrong to me.

However, all of that said, unless they are abusing the girl, it really isn't anyones business.

C It seems to me that it's a quality of life issue for both the kid as well as the parents. How could you continue to lift a 125 pound invilate when you're 65+ and physically unable to do so?

Where does it end? I guess by that arguement, female circumcision is absolutely no one's business but the doctors and the families.

It is no one business but the doctor and the parents. I have two aunts who each have children like that girl. Both have had to go to homes for people like them for care. They became to much for their parents to care for. It is had to care for people in their condition.

A. I read that story last night and I find it appalling that someone would go and do that.

it is sad, but i don't think it is a decision the family and doctor came to easily, so therefore it is their own business.
