what kinds of things do you do at a baby shower?

ok so tomorrow i will be 29 weeks pregnant and i want to start planning my baby shower but i have no idea what kind of things u are supposed to do at babyshowers idk what kind of food games etc etc plz help!!!!

ask one of your friends to throw you the shower-then you won't have to worry about it - besides is it not in poor taste to throw yourself a baby shower?

Heh-heh. My aunt had a babyshower not too long ago.

Get some fake money. You'll need it. Pass it out evenly to everyone.

The first game is a game that lasts the whole shower. The goal is to NOT say the word "baby" for the whole day. The people that do forfeits a bill.

The second I know of is a memory game. "I went to the store an bought my baby..." Complete the sentence with all items previously said (in the order they were said) and add one that was not said. If one were to duplicate an item, then they forfeit a bill. If one were to mess up the order, than they forfeit a bill and start the next round.

Tennis. Come up with names off the top of your head for either a girl or a boy. You can't hesitate (take longer than two seconds to make a name), or you forfeit a bill to the other player.

At the end of the baby shower, count up the bills of all contestants (guests). Prizes can be given on a first-second-third place basis, or however you see fit.

Oh yeah! (Thanks for reminding me! :-) ) Cut a string of whatever length. Everybody gets a string (Seriously doesn't matter how long the string is.) Wind the string around your finger while introducing yourself. The longer the string, the longer time you have to introduce yourself. YOU CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT YOURSELF FOR AS LONG AS YOU ARE WINDING THE STRING!!! Keep it at the same pace as everyone else (No speed-winding). A pause would make you forfeit a bill.

For the most part, everyone just eats and hangs out. There are a bunch of games you can play also.
1- take a string and put it around your body (where your belly is). cut the string so that it is the same size as you are around. Then have your guests each cut themselves a piece of string the size they expect that you are. The closest wins a small gift.
2- the cotton ball game. 1 player at a time. blind fold the player, and dump out a bowl of cotton balls in front of them. They have to scoop up the cotton balls into the bowl using a spatula. The person with the most cotton balls wins a gift.
3- the clothes pin game. Every guest gets a clothes pin. the object is to NOT cross your legs or any other part of your body. If you do, the person who spots you can take your clothes pin. At the end of the game, the person with the most clothes pin wins a gift.

My friends did my baby shower and they had lots of finger foods because they had lots of games and activities planned. They had veggie sticks, pigs in a blanket, lots of cold cuts, chips and salsa, dips and simple things like that.

We played a guessing game with a ribbon and each person tried to guess how long a ribbon had to be to go around my belly and whoever got the closest won. Also we smeared some diapers with baby food and mustard and other things like that and then blindfolded people and had them try to guess what the smell was. I know we played other games but I can't think of any if I do I will add later. Good Luck!

My sister had everyone she invited bring a baby picture, including one of herself, to the shower. She pinned all of them to a cork board. Everyone at the party had to guess which baby was who. Whoever guessed them all right would get a little bag gift. OR the grociery game. You read from a list of baby items you'd buy, for instance: diapers, bottles, blankets, pacifiers...etc....and each person has to guess how much they cost. Kind of like the Price is Right.
Food would depend on what time you were having it. My sis had hers in late morning, so we had a brunch. Hope that helps a little and have a good time!!

I rented a well for the baby gifts, a chair that's decorated for me to sit in. We played a game where they had to figure my waist size and made men try to put on diapers on the baby the fastet. Everyone got gifts for coming.

Pick a theme though once you do that it's easy. You should take your sonogram and make your theme all about me (the baby) get plates made and poster of the sonogram.

It's better if you get the 4d sonogram and then you'll see the baby completly.

some games: baby bingo, how well do you know the mommy and daddy to be game, look over baby things on a tray for 10-15 sec then give 5 mins to recall the objects. Food its always easiest to do finger foods, finger sandwiches, fruit and veggie trays, and a cake

Cake and maybe vege tray. Games you can do baby food with taking labels off and guessing them. The rice in a bowl with safety pins blind folded. Diaper pins on guests shirts and every time they say baby they get one taken away. You can do a search for baby games and print them off.
