My doctor stripped my membranes when I was 38 weeks and I was 3 cm dilated. I went into labor less than 48 hours later, so it can help.

I am kinda in the same boat as you. I am also 38 weeks pregnant but only at 1 cm & 50% effaced. I also lost my mucus plug this week & have been feeling real crampy in my back and lower stomach. My doctor stripped my membranes on Wed & I am still at work today so I dont think that it worked. I hope all works out for you!

I am 38 weeks 2-3 cm dilated 65% effaced my OB stripped my membranes 3 days ago and at first was minor period like cramps and as days went on they got a little stronger. but my water still has not broke and my contractions are alot stronger. the nurse told me that stripping of the membranes is supposed to
help start labor and bring on more crampy feeling also she said these pains will stay with you until they get way strong to where you will know your in active labor. so i guess its a good sign that your getting cramps because thats the start. good luck!

It didn't work for me. My Dr. did it at 38 weeks and I did not give birth until 41 weeks. However, based on the rest of your symptoms, it sounds like you are close and will go into labor soon anyhow. Who knows whether the membrane stripping will have anything to do with it or not.

Hang in there, it will happen soon!

My doc did it to me w/o my permission with my first baby.
I was 3-4 cm and 100% effaced at the time.
It still took a week for me to go into labor.
Having sex may help things along as it can cause contractions.

hi, I had my membranes stripped 2 days in the past, on my due date. i grew to become into in uncomplicated terms a million cm dilated and have been that way for each week. a million. I won't lie, for me it injury extremely badly, yet in uncomplicated terms for a quick 2d. After that it grew to become into in uncomplicated terms slightly sore for something of the day. 2. 40 8 hours and counting, and not a single contraction... i heard it induces exertions in a million out of three women. So those are respectable odds. 3. If it works in any respect, you're meant to be in exertions interior of 40 8 hours. 4. it is in uncomplicated terms meant to detach the water bag, yet for some human beings it surely breaks the water bag. (it is not the variety of undesirable factor nonetheless, in my view!) stable success!!

It works for some labors, didn't work for mine, but I wasn't 2cm or effaced.... so it will probably work for you!
I hope so!

Good luck!
