Lynn Swann played on the best team at that time. That gives him name recognition. Do you think Tony Romo would be in the Pro Bowl if he he did not play for the cowboys? Just in the right place at the right time.

Is a player to be defined solely by statistics?
This isn't fantasy football. I can't count the amount of times that Lynn Swann made a "game-changing catch", a stat that you won't find in any stat book. Swann was a significant part of why the Steelers won games in the 1970s, plain and simple. 1,000-yard seasons don't win games: big plays do.
And if stats are all you care about, Swann was the Steelers' leading receiver four times (1975-1978), and in two of those years, the Steelers won the Super Bowl. Winning is what the game is about, and Swann was a big part of why the Steelers were 90-38-1 from 1974-1982, without a single losing season with Swann on the roster. Three Pro Bowl selections & being in the Top Ten in the league in receptions (twice), receiving yards (three times), receiving TDs (three times) and combined TDs (twice) don't hurt either.
Long story short, he's not in the Hall because of one catch. Perhaps Art Monk or (insert your favorite player here) should be held in higher regard than Swann, but that doesn't take away from Swann all he accomplished for, and all he contributed to, the Steelers.

Hey Brain...why don't you go watch your sychronized swimming competition and leave the football talk to the big boys? After all, it's clear that you have no clue about anything
