This may be a silly Q, but you are getting them removed from a dr., right? I only ask b/c of the way you phrased that. Nowadays, you never know!

Anyway, to answer your Q- honestly yes, it does hurt, but you will heal (I hardly remember now what it was like) and hey- look at the bright side- you have an excuse to eat lots of ice cream! LOL It will not affect you aftwerwards. I had mine taken out a few years ago, b/c I frequently got tonsillitis. Since then, I haven't had a sore throat yet! I am so glad I got mine out!

Are you an adult? My mother had hers removed in her twenties and she said it was miserable. I've heard the older you are, the worse the recovery. At the age of 30, I refused to let the dr. remove mine. I had a 30 year attachment to them, and I like them right where they are. Good luck.

By the way, I love all the smart a$$ answers :)

You're going to remove your own tonsils?

I personally would be very careful when removing them. I would practice cutting things when looking in a mirror and working through a relatively small hole. I would also practice sewing through the same hole.

Why would you remove your tonsiles?

I would hope that you would get a professional to do this rather than attempt to do it yourself

It will both affect you AND hurt, so please do NOT remove them - have a surgeon do it.
