I'm sorry, this was LAST YEAR but, how many of you think the Super Bowl was fixed? Every Steeler fan I know says we just couldn't take the loss to them, but I know in my heart that those refs were paid off by the Steelers. Even someone who doesn't even watch football could tell you that that game was fixed.
The reason I ask is because my beloved Dallas Cowboys are in the playoffs this year, and if they make it to the Super Bowl, I want to be reassured that they have a fair game. No matter what two teams get so the SB this year, I hope they have a fair game.
What do you think?

People, I asked a simple question. Quit telling me that the Cowboys are horrible. To each his own, remember? I just want to know what you guys think about last year, but I guess that's a waste of points. You guys are no help.

Fixed? I honestly don't see how it's possible to fix an NFL game in today's sports world. Seattle didn't lose that game because of the refs. The refs didn't do any favors for Seattle, but they didn't cost them the game. The lost because they didn't play well enough to overcome penalties. And Jerramy Stevens can't catch a cold.
To ensure that a certain team wins, how would you even do that? Would it consist of just having the refs strongly favor team A? Even if that was the case, the refs can't control if Team B scores, or if Team A commits a blantant penalty that can't be ignored. These guys have their professional integrity on the line so it's highly improbable that they would be in cahoots with anyone. Even if they were, who would pay them off? Team A? The NFL? And in today's world of information leaks and reporters getting their scoops, we would surely have heard about it by now. People can't keep secrets. So how else would you do it? Call both teams together, including their practice squads, staff and other team employees, and make them sign confidentiality agreements not to mention this to the publc? There's simply too many people involved in a football game for it to work.
There are no fixes in the NFL.
If I did think there were fixes in the game like so many here think I wouldn't watch it at all. How could you if you know that the games are predetermined and it's not a true sport?

Look, the NFL is not fixed. The media is swarming all over the coaches and players trying to come up with a good story. That is what their paid to do. NOT 1 reporter or coach or player said anything related to fixing, and yet the super bowl is fixed? That just doesn't make sense.
The Patriots won in 2002 because they went on a run at the end of the year and that carried over to the playoffs. They were so good all of a sudden because the immobile Drew Bledsoe was replaced by Tom Brady when Bledsoe was injured.
Last year the Steelers won because of coaching. The two week period before the super bowl allows the coaches to become more of a factor. Bill Cowher is certainly a better coach then Holmgren.
This year the Saints have been very successful because of Drew Brees. Brees was good at San Diego with his runningback as his best reciever, but he was still very successful. Now at New Orleans, he has a threat a runningback with reggie bush, veteran WR joe horn, and rookie standout marquis colston. Before this year, Aaron Brooks was their QB. Now in Oakland, he was benched on the worst team in the NFL. He doesn't deserve to start everywhere. Brees is certainly an upgrade from Brooks.
NFL games are not fixed. Period.

WOW a year later and people are still going on about this! No the games ARE NOT FIXED! You say that you're a Cowboy's fan correct? Well I wasn't crying and whining when the Cowboys beat my team (Steelers) in the Superbowl! Just get over it for crying out loud. The best team wins, the team that can come back from a bad call and still pull it out is the team that deserves to win.

If the SB and /or the NFL is fixed then I guarantee that you will see the Saints vs. the Chargers this year. What a great story line-Brees gets dumped by the Chargers only to go the Saints and put up spectacular numbers and bring a hurricane ridden area something to be proud of again. The Saints go in and beat the Chargers just because they traded Brees and Schottenheimer just can't seem to win the big one LOL!! Now back to reality, everyone is talking up the Chargers, Ravens, and Saints. I hate to say this because I hate this team with a passion, but the Pats could very well sneak in there and just shock everybody. You can never count Brady and Belichick out of anything and as far as the NFC, the Bears only go as far as Grossman can take them. This post-season could play out to be one of most interesting ones in a long time-just wait and see. It's up for grabs in my opinion, but I would place my bet on the Bears representing the NFC and I think the AFC is truly up for grabs.

Don't get me wrong because I love the NFL, but there are some fishy things that I have noticed as well. The most glaring was when the Patriots won the Super bowl the year of the 9-11 disaster. I know, I know they won a little since then, but the year before they were horrible. they made a huge jump. But I'm willing to let that slide. The other funny thing is New Orleans this year. Isn't it a little coincidental they were a losing team last year and now they are a favorite to go to the Super bowl their first year back full time in New Orleans. Granted they made some fantastic moves, but doesn't it also make you wonder about Reggie Bush coming to them in the first place. Who in their right mind would pass on that kind of talent let alone pass twice. Like I said, I love the NFL, but certain aspects remind me of another "sport"....WWF???

You people are amazing! The Steelers won that game & it's clear to anybody that knows anything about football that the better team won that game. If it's so damn easy to fix a game, why don't more teams, especially the wealthy, big market teams do it all the time? The Steelers/Rooneys are notoriously tight with a buck, just look at their payroll figures. If they have all this money to throw at the refs to fix a game, why do the Steelers constantly lose so many top players to free agency? Think about it.

omg the steelers won the superbowl last year becuase they awere the better team, ur jsut like holmgrem, " i knew i was playiong the steelers, but i didjnt know i was going to be playing the guys in the stripes too", the refs may make some bad calls like they do every game but look at the steelers last year, when they beat indiapoplis, the refs screwed the steelers and we still domintaed the colts, so stop your crying about refs and focus on how bad the cowboys suck this year, ROMO is overrated and the only unoverrated player for them in glenn

I don't believe the Super Bowl is fixed. It has become increasingly hard to "fix" a game of this magnitude since there are hundreds of video cameras on every play. With instant replay it becomes even harder. Sometimes the refs make bad calls, but I think if you look at the bad calls they make you will see that they are random.

1) Cowboys are awful
2) The refs were fine. Seattle cheated and got caught. Big Ben definitely scored on the play where he ran in the TD.
3) Cowboys suck

if you can fix boxing, you can rig any sport. I am not a sports fan but how the Giants Beat the Pats is still a mystery. Its completely possible if one is fixed, the rest could be.
