A.J. Hammer is very jealous of Oprah. She said that Oprah should give to this country first before giving to other countries. News alert - Oprah has given thousands of times to this country. Not every time Oprah gives she announces it. She's given to many students from the USA publicly on her show as recently as last year.
It sad that when people do good that people like A.J. Hammer look for a dark lining for criticism. The USA schools are many times better than the majority of the schools in the whole of Africa. We have many rich people here in the USA to contribute here. After all this is on of the most powerful and richest country in the world - the complete opposite of Africa. If Africa is educated, then billions of dollars donated to curb diseases and starvation will not be needed. This money could then go to better programs here in America. Condemn many of the rich that don't give and make some of the schools here not reflect the power and riches of the USA. Oprah gave here first.

Wasn't Oprah one of the first to make sure that people in New Orleans had a home. Didn't Oprah make sure people here get somethings they really needed because she felt they deserved something good. Redoing homes, make overs. Didn't Oprah go to Africa a few years back and she saw how really poor the people were and she sent them clothes and toys and the people complained then also give to me give to me and she said you just don't understand how poor these people are. And everyone said but I need some NIKES, and some new furniture some new clothes. HELP ME give to me don't give it to them. In a country where the possiblity to have is far greater even with 3 MCDONALDS jobs or a Wal-Mart and a Taco Bell job than the nothing that Africans have we should be ashamed to tell her to help at home first how many programs has the government offered to then have people abuse them and ravage them until the government had to simply shut them down. Oprah did right and because the kids there want to learn and go to school. Kids here think their parents and the school district are abusing them and making them go to school and they hate it and won't go. Spoiled Selfish Greedy Americans don't even have the heart to wish success for these girls and to tell Oprah we are judged by our works when we are before God. Oprah lives in an extravagant world and so therefore her gift is extravagant. When white Americans give exorbitant gifts to schools to build new wings no one makes a fuss. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gives big awards to school districts in the US to help with failing schools. Bill Gates believes the future is in our kids. Who knows what he does overseas. Oprahs problem if she has one is that she like to brag and that is why all this controversy has snowballed. All in all it's a good thing because at least no one can say she is not helping the people with her money. If she chooses Africa and they accept her sponsorship well if they complain after the fact sounds like sour grapes and jealousy to me.

In my opinion, Oprah can do whatever she wants to with her money. Why is everyone so concerned about how she's giving the money that she has EARNED. She's STILL GIVING, that's the fact of the matter. OUr WORST american school probably would be a palace for some of those kids in Africa. PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND africa is the poorest continent. It's not about giving to the "black people" it's about giving to the poor and underprivileged. If she was giving to Germany i bet People wouldn't have a problem b/c they see this as a race thing. I bet if Europe was struggling and stricken with disease and famine, she'd give there too!!!

In Africa, the version in instructions is so great that the undesirable sell their ladies and youngsters into prostitution just to be waiting to consume. as a result entire communities have been worn out through AIDS. considering the fact that weathly Africans have not contributed to assisting the reason, Oprah has started the ball rolling through exhibiting how charity and compassion is given.

2.If we are going to judge celebrities for their money then we better judge those who spend it on drugs...
3.We are all humans so we should be happy that someone is giving to anyone who need it....
