Most ferrets live between 5-7 years. More closer to the 5 year mark then 7. This is due to all of the medical issues that ferrets are prone to.
Now, I am also a story where I had a ferret out-live this time. I just lost one of my babies this week. He was at least 9 years old. He could have been older. He was found outside by my boyfriend eight years ago. We know that he was at least a year old when he was found.
With proper health care and diet, and a bit of luck, ferrets can have a long life.

As with all animals, the better care they are given the longer they live, but I know ferrets live from 6 - 10 years and some reported cases of up to 14 years.

Usually 6-10 yrs. The most common cause of death is by cancer or kidney failure- not old age. I do know a 15 yr old girl ferret who is completely bald and on kidney meds- but is the happiest little ferret you can find.

Well, that depends on how much you like em. Now if I had them, it would seem like a long time. :)
