Maybe they are not responding to the essence of the idea that you are questioning... maybe they are responding to your scorn and sarcasm.

We all have the right to believe as we see fit. Often people with fanatical views try to make us believe what THEY believe. Perhaps you are at a point that you feel like telling them to shut the hell up. If their beliefs walk all over yours, then feel free to do so. HOWEVER! (this is the big BUT!!!)... it sure sounds like you are doing the same thing to them.

I have to say though... love the cheese toast and Elvis reference! I venerate neither! *grin*

Of course they get defensive; you have questioned something they have n proof of, someting that they have only their faith in, and you come at them with logic? You dare to demand proof? Its a self-fulfilling prophecy; if you dont see the proof, you have no faith, and if you have faith, you dont need proof...
