You can't hide it...The FBI can find you by your connection, attempting to hide it only increases the number of hops between you and sites you visit, but you can still be found because you still have to connect through your ISP at your home.

You can't hide your IP address from other users. The IP address is there on all computers for saftely and law purposes. It helps police find child pornographers for one example. Another is fraud. Another is illegal use of internet companies, etc. Also, if you are posting or using illegal credit cards or accessing or producing illegal materials on your computer, this is how you are tracked down. (I'm not saying that you are, just why we have the IP feature.)

It depends on how people are trying to "find you". There's no true way to hide your IP address when you do anything online... there are only ways to make it more difficult or more work to find that IP address. Like anonymous proxies, for instance, which are not *truly* anonymous, but are close.

purchase a really good firewall program with Internet securtity. But stay away from Nortons , it's almost too powerful. Sometimes it blocks programs such as Windows that need to do automantic updates, and it totally hijacked my internet explorer and woundn't let me change my home page ......I had to uninstall it. I have 4 PC's and I now use eTrust Personal Firewall, it's great and cost 50% less then Norton's. Visit their website to purchase and download, or pick up a simualr product at Best Buy or some store like that.

You can use proxies that change the IP address from your ISP to something else.

There are many services (pay or free) that can accomplish this.

Look on the net for anonymous web surfing or onion routers. Reading up more at Wikipedia would help.

good firewall helps, proxies help. but as said someone can find it if they try. most web sites will record it each time you go there. in some cases this one way for spammers to send spam. with dial up is a little more protected as the ip changes each time you boot. but nothing really is perfect.
