Sexual intercourse - This works in two ways to induce labor. First, female orgasm can bring on contractions. Second, semen contains prostaglandins. Prostaglandins work to help ripe and soften the cervix.

Nipple stimulation - Stimulating the nipples triggers the production of natural oxytocin. Oxytocin contracts the uterus.

Accupressure - Accupressure may be helpful in inducing labor. Some pressure points you can try are the roof of your mouth, the webbing of your fingers between your pointer finger and thumb, and above the ankle about four fingerspaces above is a pressure point.

Raspberry Leaf Tea - Rasberry leaf tea is not actually known for it's labor inducing properties, but it is believed to be helpful in toning the uterus and helping with labor.

Cinnamin stick tea - Take cinnamin sticks and boil them into a tea and drink. It actually tastes good so even if it doesn't bring on labor it may help you to relax.

Evening primrose oil - Evening primrose oil comes in small capsules similar to vitamin E. It is believed to help soften and ripen the cervix.

Walking - Walking may help to get baby to drop into proper position.

Visualization/relaxation - Relaxation can help with labor induction. Try doing relaxation exercisers. They are also good practice for when labor actually begins.

Pineapple, cumin tea, eggplant parmesan, and spicy foods - are another thing you can try.

How about TIME? Nothing is a NATURAL way to induce. There is a reason you should be pregnant for about 40 weeks....you shouldn't do anything to try and rush things along unless you're past your due date and your doctor says it's okay. Your baby will come when it's ready to come....have some patience. You're only 37 weeks.

Have you spoken with your doctor? If he doesn't recommend inducing then you will have to wait it out, even natural induction. The baby is in there for 40 weeks for good reason. As long as you and baby are both doing fine, the best thing is to wait for the baby to show up on his/her own. Although I know it is uncomfortable and you want the baby out!

Good luck!

Our doula group reccomends a product called LaborBoost Labor Cream. We have seen a lot of success with this product. It won't over-ride your body if it isn't ready, but neither will pitcin. Your body has to be showing signs of labor (dilation, effacement, and/or Braxton Hicks). Castor Oil will give you very loose stools but does work on occassion. You can also try nipple stimulation.

The first question I have is are you dilated? I am due on the 19th and just want this baby out.I have been dilated for 2 weeks and have walked everyday for atleat 1.5 hours. That is what my doctor said to do, also just relax watch TV surround yourself with people you are comfortable with. It will happen I know the waiting is hard but just know that I am there, waiting sucks. Especially if you are ready and don't know what you are having. Good luck and hope you have a speedy labour.

I would advise that you speak with your doctor before you consider taking any advice from a non-professional. As much as expectant mothers want it to be over with quickly, very few would put their child or themselves at risk without proper advice. Good luck and get ready for the time of your life. You'll wish you could put it back some days.

I used sex and walking but I have heard that nipple stimulation works as well. It is primarily the sucking sensation that naturally produces pitocin in the body.
