Alright, time to make people mad, and frankly I don't care.

To the first gentlemen, buying an "American made car" is completely false in thought because no mainstream car available in the US is made in one specific country. Stating your allegiance to a false pretense is absurd. In actuality, American manufacturers are not building a quality product that will complete with a longer lasting vehicle in an import. Its a social Darwinian world; survival of the fittest and THEY ARN'T SURVIVING.

To the second gentleman, do you understand that all those technologies are completely out of date and there would be no reason why we in this new generation would WANT to go back to those days. Heaven forbid we actually create efficient products that people will find easier to use in today's busy world. Its not that we dont accept your decade, its that you cannot compete in the newer world environment. Thats why you have a line out the door to the technical guy in older businesses wanting to know "why my computer will not work." Same with cars, efficency is somehow looked down upon, and we as what you would call "kids" praise an idea that a 4 banger can blast the heck out of your big block. There is something we can do, and thats change from our ways, and we're doing it, with or without you.

To the third gentleman, you stated you "liked big engines with big horses that came stock, and then you could upgrade and make them hot rods" thats EXACTLY what we as "ricers" do, except we are economical people with not all the money you richie riches have... hmmm lets spend less money and STILL compete with the "big dogs"... BRILLIANT.

To the fifth gentleman, do you not think that it isnt all about being in a civic that has a fart can in as much as the fact they are KIDS; not experienced. Yes, I dont like it just as much as you, but at the same time I understand all they wanna do is have fun, let em do it even if in the long run they get laughed at and scorned. At some point they understand where the rubber hits the road and will want to compete with you and your big block... then the next thing you know he is sitting door to door with you.. :O OH NO!

And to sal, well youre just not reading what you type apparently. Have you ever been to dealerships? I guess not... heck or even the auction blocks... cause if you did you would see all the people OLD AND YOUNG looking at those imports because they KNOW THEY WILL SELL... they are, shall i say it again? efficient. And you look at all the mustangs and camaros and see about 2 gangs of mexicans fighting over who will have to sit in the back seat going home...

Honestly, do you understand what you people are saying? Really though, I dont care... maybe this will make people hate imports more. Fine with me, gives me a easier market for me to buy in. Thanks ;)

To the gentleman who responded, I know what youre saying and i agree with some of it... But ive spent a total of 5 grand (including the car) building a 93 honda civic single cam, yes she is boosted, but i found cheap parts what have been proven and tested great name brand and quality parts and rebuilt those used internals making them new again... a little can go a long way with these little cars. yeah it has no torque anyone will admit, but then again how do you expect something that is impossible? I KNOW it isnt going to happen, just like I KNOW its impossible to get a bad small block or large block into the weight range of imports... I know how people dont respect imports, im okay with that, and it may not excite you.. but when you can hit 13 seconds on street tires with 1600 cc's of displacement, wouldnt you be happy with that? I know plenttyyy of people with the built B20's and K series who have seen into the 9's for goodness sakes. Yes, its hard to do it and yes she is screaming the whole way and those builds do take a lotta cash. Yet I try to make economical decisions, and im glad i try to because even if you dont respect me, I respect myself and know Im doing the right thing... maybe I wont reach the times that people see spending 20 grand but with my wallet, Im completely happy with where i am :) thanks for the respond tho.

And another edit: to the person below me... ricer? haha dez nutz. hahahaha

It's not the import "power" we hate on, just the dumb kids who think their honda civic is a drag car because it's got a cold air intake and a fart can muffler. To me and my cohorts, if you're not running 12's or faster than you're not fast (and thats being very generous for street legal stuff, there's a lot of folks running a lot faster), but hey if you've got an import that'll do it then my hats off to you.

To cribbles: I understand what you're saying, and if imports are your cup o' tea then good for you, but some of your theories are flawed. First, imports are not cheaper to mod when compared to "big blocks" as you call them. I run 11's in a street legal pickup truck... yes 4200 lb pig of a pickup truck which ran 16's stock, and my total investment, motor, trans, and all is about $4500, which is a bargain (the truck itself cost $18,000 brand new). Show me a 16 second import you can dump $4500 into and get the same performance, that's right, it's not happening. Second, i've got no problem with kids wanting to have fun, but most I know seem to get all their knowledge from the fast and the furious movies, and some of the comments I hear from "ricers" are just re-goddamned-diculous. And finally, i've yet to run across a "ricer" who run door to door with the ol' chevy truck, so there's no "o oh no" factor here, but if one does happen to be faster, and I know there is, then, as I stated earlier, my hats off to him (or her) and a good handshake, not a ricer flyby, would be in order. One more thing, I don't run a "big block", just a really badass small block.

Oh yeah the gaudy vinyl, wings, and underglow lights don't help either... keep it clean and simple!

they are being over taken by a new generation and muscle/hot rod people can not accept that fact. they are unreasonable people because they say thing like its about the car from america. its pride that bases their thinking. of course their will be kids are unexperience "ricers" that will just do stupid crap to their import but same goes for muscle, i've seen kids put walmart spinners on, bad decals, self-spray painted bodies on those bad boys and its stupid so no matter import or american there will be kids doing dumb things to them.

now its the issue of power, so will you give more respect to any import if they built a car with v-8 all gas gussling muscle-like car? no? then u are just insecure and will never be satisfied. look, making a fourbanger car fast is harder than a v-8 okay. it takes knowledge to make it work but for the muscles, its easy because it is already fast. it also takes knowledge to engineer a gas-saving motor. any idiot can slap crap on to build horsepower.. so take it into consideration that japanese were thinking of building imports to save people money and the economy to begin with.

I understand where your coming from. It is a generation thing. In my day it was Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, Grand Nationals, etc. We liked big engines with big horses that came stock, and then you could upgrade and make them hot rods. I'll try not to hate on the imports. It's hard though. I take back my Honda dis earlier. Sorry about that.

they are many idiots out there who are like horses with blinders on. they only see what they want to see and if it's different, they belittle it. you can see by overall statistics where most of the general population is doing such as purchasing vehicles. the detroit car manufacturers are obviously not doing very well except for truck sales. no use bringing up this point because most people who answer will be at the most extreme end of each range.

I don't like imports because they are imports. I buy American cars and support the American economy. SOME imports are actually assembled in the United States and they are OK because they give us jobs. Some American cars like the Dodge Neon are made in Mexico...so I will never buy one. I own a Dodge and a Pontiac. Both American made cars.

Unfortunately, your generation will never have any love for a vinyl record, The Honeymooners, 8-track tapes, cassettes, VHS video tapes, or 10 cent pay phones.

And no matter what, the Baby Boomers will never have any respect for foreign cars, no matter the power or technology behind them. Most of them fought wars with the folks you are praising.

Just accept the fact, and don't worry about it. There's nothing you can do about it, and there's nothing they can do about it.

they are not car enthusiasts.thus, their opinion on the subject is not valid. I LOVE GOOD CARS REGARDLESS WHERE THEY WERE MADE.these are the same people who drives really NOISY cars that can run 13's only, but the sound alone makes them think it's really faster...LOL

another thing, don't "hate" take it on the track.
