when she comes home from a visit. The ex wants the new husband out of the picture. The ex has already turned him in to DCFS for abuse (unfounded) and is now telling the 6 year old to call 911 and tell them to come get her because she doesn't want to be there with the new stepdad. What can we do to convince the ex that this is hurting the children? The children and the stepdad get along great. I think this is one of the reasons the ex is pushing so hard to get rid of him. Talking to the ex has done no good. We have also tried talking to his parents to no avail.

Ask a lawyer what to do- maybe they would limit his visitation. What he's doing is cruel to everyone, but especially his own child- in fact it's probably child abuse (mental cruelty via manipulation). If not a lawyer than a therapist or someone, since this could have a impact on the children's future ability to form trusting relationships.

firstly maybe you could show the kids the importance of call 911 like taking her to the hospital and showing her a sick kid and explain it a number emergency only if if your on the phone with a fake call that little kid could have died. let your kids know if there is a problem that your their to talk .
and with the ex and stepdad thing sadly sometime that comes in hand in hand maybe you could try and let your ex know that his role as the prime father will never change so he should just grow up and be just that a great father
good luck with this it soulds like you will need it 8o)

My daughters father has done this kind of stuff for years, she is now 16, he had never quit. He is a type that never thinks about what it is doiing to my daughter he only is interested in putting us down. I have suffrered beyond belief having to deal with this man, She on the other hand still can't understand his motives if you know what I mean. I hate to admit this but I have wished that he would just dissapear because she and we would be so much better off. I feel for you but you can't change the devils horns .

You may want to get a mediator involved to talk to the whole group. The cops should also get involved because 911 is for emergencys, not jealousy and you don't want to teach the child that it's okay to do that. I'm sure someone could be in big trouble for this.

The ex doesn't care about hurting the children.

I say when the cops do eventually show up and talk to the kid and the kid tells them that her mommy tells her to call 911 and say bad things - mommy will be the one in trouble. It'll only happen once I guarantee it.

Is there legal custody and visitation establish via the court? Perhaps another trip to the judge is in order to take away the Ex's visitation rights because of his tactics. If anything, just the threat of such action might be enough to disuade him from continuing his childish and immature meddling.

Talk to him and the kids, and then if that does not work find out what can be done legally to stop it.

talk to the ex (politely) in front of the children and involve them so he realises they are being hurt by it.
